Spike Lee’s latest footwear team-up with Jordan Brand is slated to make its retail debut this month, a bold new style that incorporates the famous director and his 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks company into the name: Jordan Air Spike 40. Going with a traditional NY themed colorway, the shoe is dressed in a Total Orange, Game Royal, White and Black color scheme. Built with an Orange mesh upper that includes Royal accents, a White midsole, speckled Orange overlay and a translucent outsole.
The shoe is comprised of a distinct mesh, seemingly executed in a woven style, while textured patent leather on the heel, eyestay and tongue is finished in a bold reflective effect. It’s a much more unique look than the Jordan Spizike, in the sense that it doesn’t feature the overt nods to past Air Jordan models. Is it better than the Spizike? The best features of the shoe includes details of ‘BK’ and ‘Ya-Dig’ on the insider of the tongue on the left shoe, while ‘NY’ and ‘Sho-Nuff’ are displayed on the right shoe. 3M reflective detailing is also added on the Blue sides of the upper.
