Nike is not quite done honoring Kobe Bryant following the close to his playing career. Thus, in what can easily be seen as one final curtain call, they’re set to release the Nike Kobe 11 Elite “Great Career Recall.” With a similar look and feel to the final releases of the Fade to Black collection, the sentiment is set in black with crowning metallic gold branding seemingly as an ode to Bean’s many career accomplishments.
The black and gold scheme is nothing new — it was featured on the “Fade to Black” Kobe 11 and “Mamba Day” iD, but this pair is stamped with a commemorative seal on the pull-tab and is finished off with a white outsole. Also included is what appears to be a booklet that details special moments in Kobe’s career. The post-retirement release takes a premium approach thanks to black Flyknit throughout the upper while a metallic gold Swoosh branding brings to mind the style of recent “Mamba Day” NIKEiD offerings. Here the Swoosh ditches the bolstered leather construction for a streamlined appearance while a commemorative heel tab showcases 24 stars for Bryant’s jersey number.
