The first colorway “Effect” features a very clean black/white look on the toe box while the heel receives a colorful tie-dye splash pattern. A rather clear cut between these two styles is provided by the strap. The swoosh is placed on the clean white midsole while the curved outsole has some speckles in it. Like the KD and other signature shoes the Kyrie 2 features a lot of personal references in the form of Kyrie’s logo as well as details on the inside of both the tongue and the strap.
Kyrie Irving will return to the Cavaliers’ starting lineup later this week, so it’s fitting that his second signature shoe, the Nike Kyrie 2, will be hitting retail shelves at the same time. Leo Chang took the reigns as lead designer once again, as he reworked Kyrie’s unique dribbling and cutting ability in the form of a mid-top silhouette with an inverted strap. Like the Kyrie 1 before it, the outsole is based on the physics of Kyrie’s array of footwork moves as multiple patterns make up a traction system unlike any before it. The Nike Kyrie 2 “The Effect” serves as the debut colorway and features a muted Wolf Grey base while a pattern heavy upper sees an N7-like tribal pattern on the strap clash with a tie-dye on the circular ankle support.
